Without Ceasing knits traditional text into an infinite loop of language. The process of reading becomes a ritual, as the book can be turned over and over endlessly in ones’ hands. This cyclical nature attempts to capture grief as a tactile and nonlinear experience. The piece can be read starting at any point and for any amount of time.

Post-Roe Protection Amulets
Each 2”x5”
norgestimate (birth control), thread, beads, lace
2023

This work deals with the sanctification of time in relation to my body and the world. My identity as a Jewish woman factors heavily into these explorations. My pieces are memorykeepers and documentarians, baring my body, my rituals, and my mind. I have been making amulets out of felt and birth control, creating forms based on Jewish devotional objects from the 19th and 20th centuries. In Jewish tradition, amulets are primarily used to shield pregnant people and young children from vengeful Lilith, the baby-killer. In a contemporary twist, my amulets protect a person’s right to choose (or not choose) pregnancy, serving as talismans for this post-Roe world.

A zine map of poems, translations, legends (of all types) and place-based memory. Each “Homegoing” Poem utilizes the same set of surficial geology legend symbols and each symbol is affiliated with a word or phrase. The presence and absence of certain geological features therefore “write” the poems of the landscape.
